Our approach
We want everyone to be able to read our menus, check our opening hours and book a table at The Railway.
This website has not been assessed against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), so we don't claim that it meets them. If something doesn't work for you, please tell us.
What the website does
- A “Skip to main content” link is the first thing on every page.
- Menus are web pages, and the printable PDF menus also have HTML versions.
- Menus and contact details are part of the page itself, so they still show if JavaScript doesn't load.
- Text and button colours are measured for contrast, and open or closed status is shown in words, not colour alone.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, animations are turned off. The homepage slideshow also has a pause button.
- Buttons and links are sized to be easy to tap on a phone.
- Google Maps and the Food Standards Agency badge only load if you allow them, and everything else works without them.
Known limitations
- The allergen information page needs JavaScript to show its allergen table. If it doesn't load, call us or ask a member of staff.
- Online booking happens on Nabatable, and the map and food hygiene badge come from Google and the Food Standards Agency. We don't control how accessible those services are. You can always book by phone instead.
- PDF menus may be harder to use with assistive technology. Use the HTML versions on the menu pages instead.
Visiting the pub
The Railway is wheelchair accessible, and there is free parking. We haven't yet published detailed access information about entrances, toilets or parking spaces. Please call us before your visit to check anything you need.
Tell us about a problem
If you can't use part of this website, or you need information in another format, email [email protected] or call 01733 788345. Tell us the page and what went wrong.
